After over six months of planning, SoFun Land, in association with Jardin Orange Shenzhen, had a successful conclusion to the culminating group exhibition & VIP Party. Twelve talented artists from 5 countries contributed 11 mind-blowing murals in the Tanglang industrial area around the venue that has breathed life into the old area with their colorful, creative style.
During the two weeks leading up to this showing on June 25th, we experienced some of th hottest days of the year. However, this didn’t stop the large number of attendees from arriving to the event. Nearly 500 guests came from across the world in order to see the murals and canvases that the artists created during their stay: Europeans, Hong Kong residents, South Americans, and Chinese residents of Chengdu, Shanghai, and Shenzhen proper were also there.
During the opening of the event, Vice President of Gemland Group, Mr.Chris Li said: “Our mission is to provide affordable & quality living solution for the young people in Shenzhen; we are going to create the largest (in scale), the safest, and the most stylish apartment complex for the young generation. Therefore, we have invested in Up Creative Point (UCP), a cultural company which is in charge of organizing today’s event, to build a platform for our tenants to experience a quality lifestyle and to interact creatively with the community.”
CEO of UCP, Ms. April Luo, shared with us a few words to emphasise the purpose of the event: “Jardin Orange Artists Residency”, she introduced, “is being established not only because of the bright and positive future of China, but also because we believe that culture is the soul of an enterprise and represents maturity and one’s core values. Our mission with this project is to invite various styles and artists from around the globe to our residency and provide for them convenience so that their creativity can flow. Jardin Orange is where art and culture will meet; where art lovers in China can communicate personally with international artists without having to travel far.” The partner of the Jardin Orange Artist Residency—Ceet Fouad—expressed his deep appreciation to the artists who came to this event. Each artist came to the stage and showed their appreciation to the Jardin Orange team for their services during this month. The artists who came were ECB (Hendrik Beikirch), Ata Bozaci, Wow 123 (Markus Genesius), Jace (Arnaud Chapeau), Gorg One (Fred Boulon), Won ABC (Markus Müller), Zepha (Vincent Abadie Hafez), TATS Cru (Members: BIO, BG183 and NICER), MrDheo, and the sculptor Magalie Grondin.
After the gallery walk-through and official introductions, champagne glasses were raised and the “after” party officially began. The guests had the opportunity to personally meet the artists and discuss their art. In the outdoor garden / patio area, there was live graffiti painting from other international artists and body painting (some guests were inspired to join in the experience). The overall reaction of the guests was quite positively surprised and affirmative: the event was “extremely well-organised”, the artists “very talented and very nice”, invited people were all “sophisticated”. One guest reacted: “I can’t believe this is Xili. I haven’t been to such a high quality event in years in Shenzhen; it’s been really worth it to come. Who said there was no culture in Shenzhen? I am having a lot of fun and hope to see more creative events like this in the future.”
The grand, official opening of the Jardin Orange Artist Residency will be in the end of this year 2016; so stay tuned for our upcoming developments and events!
