Gilles Cenazandotti is a Corsican artist who over a decade developed a recognizable, creative voice through his beautiful collaborations with Jean Paul Gaultier (fashion designer) and Philippe Starck (interior designer). He works now with an activist’s vision to create magnificent installations in order to highlight the tension between our modern consumerism and the environmental degradation of our planet. He finds debris from the beaches and polluted areas of the world, such as plastics and obsolete materials, and re-purposes them into sculptures of endangered animals. This shows us all, as a worldwide collective, the complex and paradoxical nature of our modern society’s progress. The artist’s works force the question to us all: Can we sacrifice Nature’s bounty with our own, artificial products and materials? And.. at what cost?
